Bill Fields Explained

01

Reference Number (Ref. No.)

Your unique 14-digit connection identifier. Located in the top-left corner. This is the important number. You need this number to check your bill online to lodge complaints and to make payments.

Example:05 1234 5678 9012
02

Consumer Information

You should know your name, your address, what kind of connection you have. Is it Single Phase or Three Phase how power you are allowed to use and what kind of tariff you are on. Is it for your home or for a business. If any of this information is not correct you should go to your MEPCO sub-division to update your records.

03

Units Consumed (kWh)

The total electricity units used since your last meter reading. MEPCO reads meters monthly or bimonthly. The "Current Reading" minus "Previous Reading" = units consumed. If it shows "E" it means the reading was estimated, not actual.

04

Bill Amount Breakdown

Your bill shows multiple charge components:

  • Energy Charges โ€” units ร— applicable slab rate

  • NJ Surcharge โ€” Neelum-Jhelum surcharge @ 10%
  • TV Fee โ€” Rs. 35/month (all residential)
